چکیده / توضیح | The rate of weaning of vasopressors drugs is usually an empirical choice made by the treating in critically ill patients. We applied fuzzy logic principles to modify intravenous norepinephrine (noradrenaline) infusion rates during norepinephrine infusion in septic patients in order to reduce the duration of shock. |

چکیده / توضیح | MetaReg http://acgt.cs.tau.ac.il/metareg/application.html is a computational tool that models cellular networks and integrates experimental results with such models. MetaReg represents established knowledge about a biological system, available today mostly in informal form in the literature, as probabilistic network models with underlying combinatorial regulatory logic. MetaReg enables contrasting predictions with measurements, model improvements and studying what-if scenarios. By summarizing prior knowledge and providing visual and computational aids, it helps the expert explore and understand her system better. |

چکیده / توضیح | Here we present the Transcription Factor Encyclopedia (TFe), a new web-based compendium of mini review articles on transcription factors (TFs) that is founded on the principles of open access and collaboration. Our consortium of over 100 researchers has collectively contributed over 130 mini review articles on pertinent human, mouse and rat TFs. Notable features of the TFe website include a high-quality PDF generator and web API for programmatic data retrieval. TFe aims to rapidly educate scientists about the TFs they encounter through the delivery of succinct summaries written and vetted by experts in the field. TFe is available at http://www.cisreg.ca/tfe. |

چکیده / توضیح | One of the major challenges that a remanufacturer faces at strategic planning level today is to match its supply (returned items) with demand due to the inherited uncertainties and variations on both sides. Forecasting product returns is one of the most important tasks of this matching process. Unlike forecasting for traditional manufacturing systems, both quantity and quality forecasts are critical since return timing, quantity, and the quality of returned products can all vary dramatically. This research develops a forecasting method which incorporates knowledge from related sales, product usage, customer return behavior, and product life expectancy information to provide a more accurate prediction of product returns. The models are validated using Monte Carlo simulations. Numerical cases are also presented to illustrate its usage and some important insights. |

چکیده / توضیح | Complex diseases like cancer are regulated by large, interconnected networks with many pathways affecting cell proliferation, invasion, and drug resistance. However, current cancer therapy predominantly relies on the reductionist approach of one gene-one disease. Combinations of drugs may overcome drug resistance by limiting mutations and induction of escape pathways, but given the enormous number of possible drug combinations, strategies to reduce the search space and prioritize experiments are needed. In this review, we focus on the use of computational modeling, bioinformatics and high-throughput experimental methods for discovery of drug combinations. We highlight cutting-edge systems approaches, including large-scale modeling of cell signaling networks, network motif analysis, statistical association-based models, identifying correlations in gene signatures, functional genomics, and high-throughput combination screens. We also present a list of publicly available data and resources to aid in discovery of drug combinations. Integration of these systems approaches will enable faster discovery and translation of clinically relevant drug combinations. |
